Will and Brooke Buchanan completed their "Walk For Liberty" on Wednesday, December 31st. They walked into the first few inches of the cold Atlantic eight months after leaving the Pacific Ocean behind.

Here is what they said before their epic journey:

"The start of the Walk For Liberty is almost upon us! On April 14, my wife Brooke, my brother John, and I will start the Walk For Liberty from Seaside, OR. I’m going to be starting the walk right from the water, and will walk all the way across the country to the seacoast of New Hampshire.

We’re making this walk to do our part to reverse the trend of the government encroaching on our liberties. We’re walking to raise awareness of two freedom-oriented causes: the Free State Project’s idea of liberty-lovers all moving to New Hampshire, and presidential candidate Ron Paul’s message of freedom and individual responsibility."

Plenty has happened to the travelers over their journey. At the beginning Brooke walked many of the miles with Will, but later she spent nearly all of her time in support. Will was only walking a few miles a day between the coast and Portland, Oregon, but by the time he reached New England he could easily do 20 miles. They met many interesting supporters as they made their way across America and had a few run-ins with government "peacekeepers".

When the couple reached the NH border on December 14th, they were met by around 50 supporters on the pedestrian bridge spanning the Connecticutt River. They had survived ice storm delays in Vermont to stay in Brattleboro, Vt. the night before and were elated to finally cross over into West Chesterfield, NH and into the waiting arms of their new friends.

Since then, they have had a handful of companions as they slowly made their way across the Granite State.

Some were even crazy enough to do a polar bear plunge to celebrate the end of the journey.

The Buchanans look elated to finally be done and to have accomplished the feat during the calendar year of 2008.
