NH Events Marking the 5th Anniversary of the Iraq War

Saturday, March 15th Events:

Concord 1:30pm: March and Rally
We will meet at 1:30 at the parking lot at 6 Loudon Road and march to the State House for a rally at 2:30. We are calling for the US to get out of Iraq now, no military strikes on Iran or Pakistan and funding for human needs at home and abroad. Speakers will include Iraq war veteran, Will Hopkins as well as music and poetry.

Volunteers needed! - Please contact Erin Placey at eplacey@afsc.org if you can help. We need a parking director, three parking attendants, three crossing guards, five donation "bucket holders," a tabling coordinator, three set up people for the "walk in their shoes" display, and a videographer.

Keene 10:00 am: March and Rally

Peace March and Rally to mark the 5th anniversary of the unjustified invasion of Iraq, and 5 years of a bloody, costly, and counter-productive occupation. Assemble at 10:00 am at the Main Street entrance to Keene State College for the procession to Central Square and the rally from 11:00 to noon. A strong showing will our let our leaders know that, despite the pressures of everyday living, real people have not forgotten this extended conflict, and we want our troops withdrawn swiftly and safely. Concord 10:00 am: Teach-In

The AFSC-NH Youth Empowerment Project and the Concord HS Social Justice League invite high school and college students to a teach-in, from 10 AM to Noon at Concord High School. It will include a conversation with Iraq veteran Will Hopkins, "truth in recruiting" information, and a workshop on nonviolent community organizing with L.R. Berger. Nashua 11:00 am: Vigil

NashuaPeace.org will hold a "Five Years Too Many" 5th Anniversary of the Iraq War Vigil along Main Street on Saturday, March 15 from 11 am to 1 pm. Please meet in parking lot behind Nashua City Hall, Main Street, Nashua to get an assigned location. People are will be standing in pairs on each corner all along Main Street with signs.

Wednesday, March 19th Vigils:

Concord 6:00pm:

Candle light vigil for peace. We will gather on the sidewalk in front of the NH Statehouse. The 19th is the actual date of the anniversary of the war. Please join us for an hour-long vigil to commemorate this solemn occasion.

Portsmouth 6:00 pm:

Candlelight peace vigil in Market Squarein Portsmouth. On the 5 year anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, join us for a candlelight vigil to commemorate the victims and call for an end to the war.
