How can any leader in this country end a speech by saying "God bless America", or "May God continue to bless America"? That is the same as members of the Ku Klux Klan going to church after hanging a black man the night before. It is hypocrisy to say the least. But then, our government is run by hypocrites anyway.

Would God bless a nation that has high murder, rape, robbery, assault, and other crime rates?

Would God continue to bless us for our discrimination against minorities, women, and so many others that has been going on since before the Declaration of Independence was even signed? What would God say to a system of justice that jails people like Martin Luther King, Jr. for the "crime" of wanting equality for all people?

Would God help the police in arresting and dragging people like Lauren Canario through the streets for wanting to save a home from government theft known as eminent domain?

Would God bless those who arrest freedom fighters like Kat Kanning and Dave Ridley for telling the truth about the government?

What about all those other people who have also wanted a better America by not supporting a government with tax money that would only be used to fund illegal wars and torture? Would God bless the people who jail them?

Now I can't and will not speak for God, but I wonder if he really blesses the United States of America with its history of crime, hate, discrimination, lies, greed, bully tactics, and on and on. My guess is that he does not. Every time a president says "God bless America" after telling a few lies, the words make me want to scream. Why would God bless this country? After all, the government is not on God's side. The courts have even kicked him out.

God sits with those who fight the government for truth and justice. Our founding fathers had a good idea. Too bad government got in the way.

God bless those who tell the truth.
