The NH Free Press needs your help!

I hear libertarians so often say that their goal is to educate people. I share this goal of disseminating the ideas of liberty. The way I've chosen to do that is to print the New Hampshire Free Press. There are certainly other effective means of doing this – The Ridley Report and Free Talk Live come to mind, being active in New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Free Press fills a different niche. I reach out to the people on the street, ones who are not necessarily “wired” in our modern world. A lot of people like to have something physical to hold on to, it makes the ideas more real for them. The paper currently is distributed to stores all around Southern NH, from Plymouth to Manchester to Keene. It is delivered to colleges in an attempt to capture young minds. It may be the only anarchist newspaper in the country.

Obamacare will kill my wife

She's not ill often, but when my wife gets sick, she confuses the doctors. When she had a tubular pregnancy, she had no pain in her ovaries so the doctor didn't think she was pregnant at all. She insisted that he give her the test, and he did.

The next day, he called frantically because the test showed she was pregnant and he knew the fetus was not in her uterus. They got it out a few hours before she would have ruptured and bled to death.

Under Obamacare, the government will publish a list of what is covered and what is not. Since my wife did not have the right symptoms, a doctor wouldn't want to get in trouble with the government by giving her a test that was not on the list.

Government isn't very good at making judgment calls - they've been suspending kids for bringing cough drops to school because that's what the rules say. How can we expect health rules to be any different?

The Government Wants to Control You

Today more than ever, we must ask ourselves about the direction this country is heading in. Is it for the freedom our forefathers believed in and fought for, or is it giving in to the greed of a people that believes in self interest that can only be paid for with higher taxes?

There is that word again. Taxes. A word that means money in the pockets of those who take freedom away.

When Keene police arrested a woman for choosing to go topless like the men do, their actions were paid for with taxes. When Lauren or Dave are placed in a car that was paid for with tax dollars, remember that it was greed that helped to pay for the illegal arrests.

Personal or political greed--it does not matter. There are other forms of greed as well. When a home is seized by a bank, it is done because of corporate greed. When the government does not want you to speak out in the name of real freedom, it is because of greed.

Hokey Pokey Racist? Will Hate Crime Legislation Criminalize Our Kids?

By Katharine DeBrecht (www.radicalsruiningmycountry.com)

In his State of the Union speech, President Obama heralded his signing of controversial hate crime legislation. While I believe any crime is one of hate, the slippery slope of “hate crimes” has led to a dramatic infringement on the liberties of the people of Great Britain, Canada and Scotland. Worse, such anti-liberty legislation in these countries has criminalized and traumatized children.

According to the 2009 report The Myth of Racist Kids, published by the Manifesto Club (a British civil liberties group), 40,000 children each year are being falsely labeled as racists after a 2002 rule requiring schools to document and report all instances of perceived racism to local governments.

Mr. Obama is incorrect - the science of "global warming" is NOT settled

England just had the coldest January in years. The high-speed train between England and France was stopped by unusually cold and snowy weather. The Copenhagen "Global Warming" conference had the coldest weather the city has seen in a long time.

To top it off, Mr. Obama said in his State of the Union address that the science of Global Warming is settled beyond doubt. The Republicans laughed; that was the silliest thing I've heard a President say in many years.

If you google "climategate" you'll find that newspapers in England are doing their job and reporting on the scientific frauds done at government labs so the scientists could get more grants of our money.

And now, just after Mr. Obama told us that the scientists had agreed it was getting warmer, DC has a record snowfall going back to the 1800's.

The TSA: Always There To Help

After eight interminable years, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has finally done something right.

Yep, I’ll wait while you pick yourself up off the floor. Shocks like this don’t come along every day.

OK, here it is: the TSA has informed "All … employees" that "we are not first responders to a [medical] emergency and we cannot allow a distraction during our critical mission."

Yee-haw, what a relief! Should we faint from hunger after hours in the checkpoint line, we needn’t fear that incompetent LaWanda and her blue gloves will waddle to our side, hustling us into eternity at warp speed ("Whatsa matter witcha, huh? You a terrist, tryin to detrack me? Git up, lessen you want me to detain yo sorry as – Oh, wait, you be havin a heart attack, huh? Yo, stand back, ever’one, I seen this on TV, lemme just punch him hard in the chest, like this – ooomph – "an’ again…").

Sheep-Shearing Season on the Revenue Ranch

During the most recent Federal Reserve-engineered economic bubble, state and local governments made extravagant promises to their tax-feeder constituencies regarding pensions and other benefits. Now that the bubble has burst, sales and property taxes -- once a mighty, roaring river of revenue -- have been reduced to a thin, pathetic trickle.

This comes at a time when, as the New York Times reports, there is "a $1 trillion gap between what all 50 states have promised their workers [sic -- a more accurate description is "employees"] and what they have set aside."

As the economic crisis deepens, how will state and municipal governments continue to provide for their most cherished constituency -- those who live by plundering the productive?
